New Products Released: Learning Path and Managed Threads

In August, Pearson eCollege made two exciting new product releases that will help educators teach more efficiently and improve student achievement. One product released was the first iteration of Pearson eCollege’s new Learning Path tool. The second release supports managed Threaded Discussions within the Pearson eCollege Content Manager.

Learning Path allows educators using the .NExT learning platform to improve student learning by using performance measures to control the pace of course lessons. This assessment application allows for the identification of student actions, “triggers,” to progressively reveal course objects, “targets.”

This first release of Learning Path contains the Path Builder tool, which offers Trigger-Target functionality associated the student action of “Number Grade” (or earn points) as indicated by a number grade in the Gradebook. For example, an instructor can use the Path Builder tool in Learning Path to identify Lesson 3 lectures as the target to be revealed to only those students who achieve 75% or higher on the Lesson 2 exam, the trigger.

Threaded Discussions are now supported in Pearson’s Content Manager solution. Instructors and course developers who use the .NExT learning platform will now be able to share and reuse threaded discussion pages across their programs and courses.

The Pearson Content Manager allows educators to create and manage a central repository of content items. By managing discussions and other content objects, educators can reduce course creation time and improve the consistency of content used throughout their programs
